    Default Suspected Horn Scales

I am at a loss here... Won this Greaves and Sons razor with what looks like plastic scales.
I tried the "red hot poker" test... and the scale "screamed" and smelled like burning hair… Not sure what the test for horn or other cellular material is but it doesn’t sound like plastic to me…

Can any one tell me what it is?

If it is horn or any such I may just put it in my collection… if not then it will be in the laboratory for refitting of experimental “rad-rail-scales”.

It certainly looks like horn to me, even washing in hot water really creates a stench.

Thanks I will try that... if it stinks then it gets a stay of execution and into my collection.

Definitely horn - celly and plastic just melt and stink, horn resists melting and stinks even worse! They're horn, probably water buffalo.
