    Default Anyone seen my Featherlite??

What is the op's for the featherlites?? They are the disposable bladed Razor. Are they good for a nueb? do they realllllly shave as close?? And for the price are they really worth it for a savings? That is one of the big reasons why I went using a DE and Straight.

    Any ideas would be welcomed.

I've never used one, but from what I've heard you're better off with a real straight. I thought you had work to do?

    Default Smiles---

Yes, I am at work.. and still I am drawn to this page like a moth to a light... So much info and great posts here. You Guyz know your stuff.

O.k. so in reading, I guess I am not sure what a honed blade is to feel like. How can I tell if it is just sharp and if it is ready to slice and dice, so to speak? Is the hair test good enough for testing it? I know about the nail test and have done this as well. So it is sharp but how can I tell if my AH is really ready to be used for battle?

Now as far as the FW's I have heard this as well. though when I get a hair cut from the Barb. they finish with one of them.. I have looked at it and it seems o.k. but Just not sure for shaving. I asked if they do shaves and like many out there now a days, of course it is a, "No, we do not do that..."

I have done some research here in Seattle area there is one Chap that does do Wet shaves.. though his price is 50 bucks... I do not know if I want to pay that much for advice... but then again, would know from first hand what to look for and how to use the razor right. Damn my dad for not teaching me this Time honored tradition... lol

I'd ask around before having a barber do it for you....from what I've heard guys around here say, many barbers don't really know how to properly give a straight shave these days. When I first started honing my own blades I did the nail test as well, but it is easy to damage/dull your edge that way as well. A sharp blade will shave your arm all day long but might not shave your face. The hanging hair test is a very good way to tell where the edge is at, but then again not all razors that are shave ready will pass that test.....best bet is to send her off to a pro and have her done up right, then you'll know what it should feel like for future reference!

do you have a straight already?
If not jump on the Wapi deal going on in B/S/T...
Wapis are Sweedish steel razors made in poland, and they are excellent shavers.
5/8, quarter hollow ground, very forgiving... they will serve you much better than a feather, and if taken care of will last a really really long time.
