I went and did it!
Last week I ordered a custom Robert Williams straight razor....
7/8 Spanish point damascus, leaf and vine on the spine, snakewood scales ....
I can't wait to get my hands on it!!! It's going to be a LONG WAIT!!!
I'll try to post pictures when I get it.

Yep, about 14 weeks give or take. But I figure, for a custom razor handmade by someone with some NICE work out there I can be patient.
(Anyway I have no choice either way!)
And don't worry Kasperitis, I WILL post photos .... I don't want you to have to quote any more Stars Wars on my account! (Just kidding)

The snake razor
I'm about three weeks in with my order - 6/8 damascus, notched round point, snake tail tang, snake spine and snakewood scales. A real custom job! I used to breed snakes and wrote a book on them blah blah - it's been a kind of life long theme. Still to firm up exactly from my drawings but I am quite excited about a little boa head sticking out the top and helping to make the notch, and a snake tail as opposed to a monkey tail!
Suppose I've got about 3 months or so to wait. Looks like it's a good time to be a proficient razorsmith!
cheers
Stephen

Thanked: 6Sounds sweet! I'm always amazed by the looks of Robert's razors, plus they're known to be excellent shavers.
I bought one from shavingshop back in December that was discounted as it had been returned as damaged because of some slight cracks in the scales. It's a frameback with MOP and abalone scales. A really beautiful razor and in my experience although quite limited, a great shaver that was surprisingly easy to use given my lack of experience.
Anyway, I liked it so much I placed an order with him around New Year's...he was actually replying to my e-mails with questions on New Year's day which was way above and beyond...talk about service! The wait's tough but I'm sure it will be well worth it.
I'll be looking forward to all the pics and will try to post some of my own.
Enjoy!

UPDATE!!!
Well now!
It has taken a little longer than 14 weeks, but I am almost the proud owner of this fine razor!
It should be ready in a couple more weeks ... it seems that Mr. Williams has a large amount of work on his plate
(which is a GOOD thing right about now!) ...
Anyway, it should be ready in a little more than a couple of weeks! (Fingers crossed!)
Thank you Papa Bull, and hope to get it soon!
