Thread: help on a t. hessen bruch & co

Anyone have any information on this razor? Found it today at the flea market for $5. The blade is in excellent shape, but obviously needs to be honed.

The case says "Perfection" and has the following dates written on the lid, but I don't know what they mean, and they are very difficult to read. It says: "PAT. D. May 21 1881, June 29, 1889"

The logo is a bear or a pig standing up holding a spear, and the logo says " T HESSEN BRUCH & Co, Made in Germany". The logo is also on the scales.

Don't know about it, but for $5 you can't go wrong. And yes, it definitely needs to be honed.

cleaned up and honed the t hessen-bruchs are fantastic! the logo is a standing bear and even in that shape, providing the rest of the edge is no worse than what you show, it is worth more than that.

i have 4 of these a 9/16 a 6/8 and 2 13/16... they are one of those sleeper brands nobody talks about as a company they seem to disapear around 1938

Anyway to tell how old the blade is? It would be cool to say that the blade is over 100 years old, but something tells me the two dates on the box just deal with the company.

The logo is in fact the bear and ragged staff, a fairly common European one with roots in the 13th. Century and is on the coat of arms of Warwickshire Council - more info on this logo can be found here - http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/web/c...256A38003531A9

Yes, a mine if useless information! T Hessen-Bruch are good razors, I've seen a few and all were good.

as for age, it seems the word "warranted" was rather popular on 1920s era razors from lots of different makers. 3 of mine say "perfection warranted" and one says "fully warranted"(the 9/16th). my guess for your blade and three of mine "Perfection" was the model.
One of mine with black scales just like yours, was neatly inscribed with "O.J. '24"
