    Question Graves razor?

I'm new to straights, so I don't know what to look for when I'm at antique malls. Today I found a straight that was in pretty good condition. The blade was marked "graves." The box, I'm assuming, was from a different razor since it was a different manufacturer. I've tried looking for information on here, B&B, and google with no luck. Has anyone ever seen a "graves" straight razor before?

    Thanks,

    Rob

I think you mean "Greaves" not "Graves". If it is Greaves, yeah they are great razors.

    GREAVES, WILLIAM

There was a Sheffield maker called G Graves, I had one through my hands last August. It had a Bismarck-style blade and was a great piece. If you want to PM me I can send pics of it.

    J. G. Graves was a cutler in Sheffield from 1900-1914 who also made straight razors. I have an add from 1907 were they show the razor "Masterpiece" and offer your money back if you are not satisfied after ten shaves with this razor. They call it the "The boldest razor offer ever made". They also made bicycles and grammophones. My J. G. Graves razor markets "We ring" with a picture of a phone etched on the blade.

Here are some pictures of my J. G. Graves Sheffield with the telephone add on it. It is the only one I know of. Any one else out there with a Graves razor?

I forgot to ad that I have also found another razor with the Graves name. That is "The Henry Graves Razor Co. Geneva, N.Y." also known as "GRACO". I don't own one my self, but I found one one on Ebay on this link The Henry Graves Razor Co Geneva NY 034 Graco 034 Straight Razor | eBay
