Thanked: 0Boker "Silver Steel".. thoughts?
I just ordered the "new" Boker Silver Steel 3/4 blade.. the price wasn't low, but they're deeply discounted now. I've read mixed things about them on-line, over at B&B Joel seemed very critical. I will report my findings when I get it, but in the mean time, I'd love to hear from anyone who may have ordered one from before.
thanks

Joe,
I think Boker is back in the production business, actually.

Hmmm...I was unaware they had gotten into new production. Too bad, as all the old Bokers are exceptional. I'll hold off judgement on the new stuff til I've had a chance to handle and shave with one. They look good to me, but some folks are pickier than I am concerning production razors. I can fix most problems. lol

The new Bokers are available at Knifecenter.com

They are very pricey even with the discount off retail...

Thanked: 0Well it came in yesterday's mail, and here is my mini-review of it.
First off, the fit and finish, and over all quality of this blade is about as good as I can expect for under $500.. I see no issues with it's workmanship along what was said the above referenced review, nor do I see a problem with the price/value of this blade based on what I've seen today.
I spent about 20 minutes with a Coticule and another 10 on the Heirloom Strop to get this think seriously sharp. I can honesty say of the 4 blades I've got, none of them except maybe the Bismark lower cost, this one is king. I shaved my 2 day old Meditarainian strength stubble today with absolute ease. There was little to no drag, even in places that are a usual problem for me, like the chin, and the feeling after the shave was also razor burn free. I did a 3 pass, BBS shave and all with no stroping in between.
Here are some pics of the blade, and the rest of the shave kit that I used today.
