I moved this from the review section to the razors section.

This is a nice little starter razor. It is a smaller width, but generally a nice shaver. It may be a little light if you have a beard made from tree trunks.

    Good Luck,

    Lynn

    Default CLASSIC SPECIAL 4/8

This was my first razor purchase, smaller width, half hallow, little more forgiving AND a good shaver. But as Lynn said, not for tree trunks. I still use this in my roation (only because I'm TRYING my best to keep the RAD under control)

    Good luck,

i started out not to long ago. im already fairly proficient with a straight, still some nicks here and there, but i can get in and around the areas of my goatie really well. i was given a 5/8" blade. im glad i didnt look for anything bigger. it was small enough to be nimble and light so i could learn how to hold the razor and learn how to adjust the angle of the blade so that i was cutting with the stroke and not applying excessive pressure. i only wish i could have been gifted a more wedge like blade, i have a pretty tuff stubble that, at times, can be stubborn to deal with a hollow ground. that just makes it that much more important to use proper technique instead of relying on size or weight to do the job for you. plus it was honed by robert williams, and holds a wonderfully sharp, yet really forgiving edge.

anyways, nothing wrong with 4/8, i had the same issue when i first got on here, i was looking at one of the 4/8 french point dovos that goes for like $80 on classic shaving, and everyone kept saying id grow to be annoyed by its size quickly. if you can find a 5 or 6/8 go for it. maybe pass up on that razor, and get something off B/S/T. $30 goes along way on the forum here. some fellas may even be in the givin mood and might be able to hook you up no charge (S&H you should take care of).

    food for thought

I shave with everything from 3/8 to 6/8 razors. If you have an average beard, this should serve you well.
