Pakistani made razors just are pieces of crap.

    End of story.

I have one of these cheapo Kriegars just to see if I can get it to anything sharp, and use other razors I have purchased to shave with including a very nice Wapi from a guy in the UK. What I first noticed about the Kriegar is that there is very little hollow edge to it. When i began to hone the razor, because it wasn't sharp at all, couldn't cut throw my skin if I used a baseball swing, that this razor did not grind away any of the edge, only just before the edge. I think this means the razor has a double bevel, meaning that laying it flat on a stone will not sharpen the edge only the ridge before the edge; meaning one would need to either tape up the spine to get the right angle or grind away with fury the spine and edge until that double bevel is erased.

If anyone one has any comments about this let me know, Im fairly new to this and am constantly trying to expand my knowledge on all this, so please enlighten me. Thank you.

JCitron Im very curious about these affordable American razors you speak of, where can I find these, and what brands should I look out for? Are you talking about new razors or ebay razors?

That's because they likely ground the edge like a knife. The spine didn't come into the sharpening process at all.
