    Default Sanguine and Tondeo

Has anyone tried either of these. The top is a Sanguine Cool Cut and the bottom is a Tondeo Curf Cut. The Tondeo uses a double edge (probably split). It looks interesting for use as a non folding straight. Any experience with these?

Don't know much about the Sanguine, but Tondeo is a very well respected name in barbering shears. They're from Solingen, or were last time I checked.

I have 3 of the sanguines and love them. They are part of my rotation. They are easy to hone and strop. They do need honing more often (about every 4 to 5 months with regular use). The scales are very light (thin plastic). They do feel kinda delicate when compared to the sturdy scales of my vintage razors. I suspect that the steel of the blade is a lower quality than regular straights as it is very light. The blade has the looks of a hefty 7/8 round tip but is awhole lot lighter. The blade makes a "ziing" sound when you strop it. basically the razor seems to be made of lighter materials but I've had mines for a year now and noted no bad side to them. IMO they'd be good beginner razors.

My 3 sanguines with my Wapi for comparison. Wapi is on the upper right corner.

I too have a Sanguine that I purchased before I started here. They are one of the razors that are not recommended but I have had great shaves from it. I'll second everything that was said, it works well but does seem to require more occasional honing. Overall, I have no complaints.

Thanks for the good info on the Sanguine razors!

    Default Sanguine

I received two str8's and the shavette. They all work very well. I had not trouble honing the str8's and they shave well. The newer model has jimps on the top and bottom. This seems to have improved the quality. The scales could be replaced with higher quality custom to upgrade even more.
    I am pleased.
