I have had several red points, great shavers, but the scales are not ivory. caveat emptor.

yeah, i honestly don't know enough to look at a pic and say "that's not real ivory" buy i was suspicious, that's why i asked. these guys know their stuff though. let us know how it shaves, besides, the scale material can always be changed and really won't effect the shave! lol. i just hope you didn't over pay because some one was misleading. that happens way to often!

Thanked: 13245I'll go out on the limb here, I am 99.99% sure, those are not "Real" ivory you can tell easier than a hot pin test, not that it really matters, if you like the razor..... Take the razor after you get it and take a cloth and rub the back side scale vigorously, and the Ole sniffer will tell ya that it is not ivory... A slightly camphor smell will show celluloid or catalin, Bakelite will smell like burning electrical wires, and plastic will smell, well like plastic, bone and ivory will have a distinct sharp odor....
All that aside Red Points have a good solid reputation as great shavers so you should have a nice razor after it is all sharped up!!!!!
Keep in mind, that everyone is more concerned that you paid to much because of the "Ivory" statement, than anything else, they are only looking out for a new member here at SRP!!!!!!
