Got My Le Grelot
And I'm happy like a little kid on Christmas Day. I ordered it from Martin at rasurpur.de. I could hardly wait for it to arrive, but it just did. Unfortunately, I already shaved this morning so I will have to wait until tomorrow to give it a go. It really has a nice weight to it.
I only have one question at the moment: The blade came well oiled, to protect it I imagine. How should I go about removing this oil?
Here are some (amateur) pics:

You know, just looking at it, it seems way too big for you. I think I could handle it a lot better being from Texas, you know?

I just rinse mine off with water and then wipe the blade with a towel. Never had any problems. Nice razor by the way!

I wipe mine down with alcohol, and it removes pretty much all of the oil.
I like the shoulderless look with the cut of the tang... did you get it honed?

Oh, no problem. PM me your address.
Martin says that he makes sure the razors are shave ready.
I don't know if the travel of thousands of miles would have an impact on its sharpness (it was packed quite well); but I will certainly test it tomorrow. Let's hope the Wool Fat soap arrives tomorrow, too.

I got a pair of these recently & I was very impressed with the razor & Martin. His service is excellent.
I did post a review of these as I was so impressed& I just gave one to my twin brother as he likes the heavier blades. His first comment to me after using it was its the best shaver he's used so far.Paul

Alright, first shave is in. Note that this is only my second straight and I do not think that I have 20 shaves under my belt yet. So I'm still a newbie.
Going from a 5/8 full hollow ground to le grelot, the first thing noticeable was the obvious difference in size and weight. Unlike the 5/8, I only had to guide it and the weight pretty much provided the power. Here is where its advantage showed right away.
Shaving the mustache and chin area proved easier and more comfortable. The 5/8 would jump at times, due to coarse stubble (strong facial hair on this guy). This happened less and less with more practice, of course, but le grelot simply slid down the area with no "traction loss" anywhere.
On the other hand, it felt less sharp. At this point I do not know if this is what they mean when they say that a smaller razor (in general) provides a closer shave or if it's this blade, but it was really a different feeling. It was like I could be more aggressive and swifter, but the blade was very forgiving. I only got one minor nick (on the neck).
I won't draw any conclusions just yet. Not until I give it at least a few more runs.

Unfortunately the oil cannot be removed and has caused permanent
and irreparable damage to the razor. I cannot in good conscience let
you continue to shave with it, so you had better send it over to me
for proper disposal.
I mean... beautiful razor
