    Default Anyone heard of Wyeth?

I finally went and checked out one of the bigger antique malls here. Sadly there weren't many straights among everything. One of the first razors I saw was a Red Imp. I got all excited, but when I opened it up, it had a HUGE chip out of the blade. Nearly every blade I saw had a chip in it. I found a small Wade & Butcher with scales that said Wostenholm on one side , but it also had a chip on the heel.

I finally found a little 4/8 Wyeth that has nice lemon ice scales. It says Wyeth, St. Joseph, Mo on the shank, and Trade Mark, Warranted with an arrow through a shield on the blade itself. I had never heard of Wyeth, but wanted something to practice honing with as well as try my hand at a simple resto.

I spent about $15 on it. Was that a waste of money?

Well, I got it cleaned up and looking pretty decent. I also got it to what I thought was shave ready. It passed the thumbnail and thumbpad tests with flying colors. I didn't try the HHT. It did really well on my cheeks and neck, but seemed like it was pulling a lot on my upper lip. I ended up switching to another razor to finish up.

The blade is very thin. Much thinner than any of my other razors. I'm wondering if that is part of the problem? Maybe it's just a POS? Maybe my honing job is a POS?

I have one razor that seems thinner than it ought to be, but for some reason I think it's just me. It stays sharp and is easy to strop although it makes a lot of noise when stropped
