Wade & Butcher question
I have an affinity for Wade & Butcher blades since my grandfather use one (an ol' wedge with a barber's notch), and I plan on picking up a nice one whenver I can afford it. I also really like the way that a really well done covered tang looks. So, my question is "Did Wade & Butcher ever make a str8 with a covered tang?" That would in all honesty be ideal (kind of a melding of fond memories and my preference).
On a side note, I can feel RAD setting in. I haven't even shaved with a str8 yet, although I do have a noobie kit and a second str8 coming in soon.
Thanks,
Michael

Hmmm......I thought that I had one but I must be thinking of my Boker's. I'll keep my eyes open but I'm not sure if I've ever seen one.....Head over and look thru the razor club forum in the Butcher Shop - all those posts and pics are on the Wade & Butchers.
....and good luck controlling the RAD!

In my years of looking I have seen only one! Tang covered in mother of pearl and scales were mother of pearl also! As I remember the price was way too high for my wallet!

Hmm. I poured through The Butcher Shop to no avail. I'm definitely going to keep looking though. This will probably become a "grail" str8.

Do mean by a curved tang something like the W&B in this post?

I've looked at a lot of W&Bs on Ebay and in antique stores, and have three myself, but I've never seen one with a covered tang. If you find one, it'll be a beaut! Good luck.

I saw those while I was looking for a covered tang W&B. The W&B on that site look pretty nice, but I'll probably hold off and pick up my first cleaver from the BST. That covered tang isn't a full metal tang. The metal shank appears to bolt "into" the tang material, and I may be jaded, but I just don't trust a blade that isn't full tang. It's pretty to look at though
