Default 1854 Sheffield Post Office Directory

This is perhaps not massively useful, but I've found it a very interesting read over the last day or so. There's haft and scale pressers, razor manufacturers, strop makers, ivory dealers, knife makers, cutlers,.... Some familiar names in there too.

Could be helpful in dating some makers, or in verifying that an old ebay razor is a Sheffield blade from that era, or just something of interest to Sheffieldophiles.

    This is pure gold!

I'll probably read this from cover to cover. I'm trying to find out more info about a Wilson Hawkesworth and Moss(?) cast steel razor I picked up on e-bay a few days ago - I hope they have an advertisement in here. (George Wostenholm is listed on Page 44, at 85 Wellington Street)

The bonus for me is I like viewing 19th century illustrated newspapers and other neat "old-timey" stuff like that, so this is right up my alley. Probably another reason I like Straight Razors!

    Thanks James!!!
