Thanked: 174Well, one thing is for sure, you will have to spend a lot of time to take any of those razors and turn it into something that can compare with a brand new $80 carbon steeled DOVO which takes about five minutes of honing/stropping to make good.
So how much should you pay. Given your investment in tools and your time at say $40 per hour. Also if you need to sell them, their sales value, your time to photograph and sell them including packing and posting.
Well financially, I don't think your going to make much money if you get them for free.
But if it's a hobby, I'd pay no more than $250.

Anywhere between $150 and $300 would be what I would expect to see as a price tag. I wuldn't go more than $200 but then I've always been a cheap SOB. Especially with that picture.

Hard to tell. Depends on quality of blades, scales and the brands. I only recognize a DORKO box so if the DORKO is of good quality that alone would warrant a USD 100+ price. It also depends whether you buy them to keep or whether you want to sell them on.

Thanked: 335Randy,
Pick a good one out for me: 6/8 or +, impeccable 1/2 hollow grind, nifty scales, etc. I'm good for a buck two eighty, easy.
Do any rare earth hones come with that treasure trove?
Cheers,

Thanked: 2209Morning!
The sale was worth it. 22 razors were not worthwhile but 8 of them I purchased.
2 6/8 German full hollow grinds
1 old frame back, screw in front of spine
2 9/16 Dorko wedges, same model
2 4/8 wedges
1 3/8 wedge
( I have yet to actually measure them )
Total $72
All are in "good" condition, none are VG or better. But none had rust on the edge nor serious rust or serious pitting.
I did travel 180 miles roundtrip plus 4 hours of my time. So there is some additional cost there and there wil be sustantially more time invested to get then cleaned up and shave ready,... whenever I decide to do that!
It was a sale just North of Wheeler, Wisconsin, about 4 miles, on Cty Rd FF. Maybe I can take some pics soon.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
