The Rodgers
Hey all,
Look at this little gem I came across in an antique store yesterday.
No restoration necessary just a little clean up. It's a Joseph Rodgers & Sons with "The Rodgers" engraved on the blade. It appears to be a 4/8 half hollow ground. I bought it because the price was nice, $15.00, and I've been wanting to try a Sheffield steel razor. Sorry about the glare and no that isn't rust on the tang, just a reflection.
One question, does anyone know the approximate age of this one?
Thanks,
Chris

Thanked: 28What is written on the tang stamp with the Star & Maltese Cross? That will help date it.

Little Silver Blade - If they had more I'd go get you one. Really.
As for the tang, I'll try to post some better pics along with a close up.

Don't want to rain on your parade but go have a look at this thread I posted a while back. I finaly got them Yesterday. The guy gave in and sold them to me for 125$ including a Llama BrandGenuine Shell Broke-In # 530 strop. The razors and the strop are in excellent shape. The razors look like they have almost never been honed, no rust,no pitting, mirror finish all four of them. The back side of the strope, the linin, is as white as snow. The leather side as a few water marks (droplets) but nothing alarming and there are no nicks just some minor abrasions made by un unexperimented stroper.

Thanked: 28Date:
Post 1890 - marked "ENGLAND" in compliance with the Mc Kinley Tariff Act of 1890.
Pre 1929 - No. 6 Norfolk Street was sold in 1929.
Probably pre 1901 - "THEIR MAJESTIES" refers to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, but did continue to be used until after a Royal Warrant was granted by King Edward VII.
