Thanked: 1Cleaning the edge of the blade post shave
Gents, I have noticed a soapy residue clings to the blade after a shaving session. It comes clean off when wiped with a towel, but I don't want to dull the edge by running it through the towel so I am left with a thin strip close to the edge of the blade (it looks like the sticky side of a Rizla). Shaving cream leaves a worse one than soap.
Any suggestions for how to get this off whilst preserving the edge?

Thanked: 1587I strop my blades on my hand before the final dry off. Seems to work fine. But if you are careful, you can wipe the edge with your towel, or paper, or whatever, without damaging the edge. Wipe it like you'd clean a pair of glasses - fold the towel over, put the spine into the fold, and use your thumb and forefinger on the open ends of the towel to wipe towards and on the bevel.

I use a cotton ball soaked with a splash of alcohol to gently wipe toward the edge of the blade. Then I gently strop on a towel laid flat on the sink top. I do this to clean the blade more than to kill any germs. I find this does the job pretty well witout damaging the edge.

I use my forefinger and thumb to dry off after a shave.
Anything left over is picked up by the linen side of the strop.
I also rinse with nice warm water from the tap after each stroke

I just use a soft towel and wipe the edge as if it was a strop once or twice.

Thanked: 2209I put a drop of liquid dish soap on the razor, rub it around then rinse it off, it removes all the soap residue. Then I dry it on a towel. No problems yet.
