I gave myself a few scars with one of those before I found the SRP. Fortunately they're mostly gone now. Something to be said about the exfoliating effects of a properly honed real razor.

Crap! I just bought one of these next time I'll check reviews before buying. I'm really new to this site and to straight razor in general, is it possible to change the blade to make it good

A quick rundown of Kreigers goes like this. They sharpen the blades at the angles of a knife...about 30 degrees instead of the about 14 degrees needed for a straight razor. Those that have tried to hone the blade at the proper angle have discovered that the steel they use deteriorates and will not hold up at that low angle. Bad steel, bad razor. Not even the scales can be used in other projects since their pins are 1/8" instead of 1/16".

I learned the hard way sometime ago. As Max suggested it makes a great box cutter.

When looking for your first SR, you can't go wrong perusing the Classifieds here @ SRP, or perhaps checking out WhippedDog. You're really taking your chances buying one off eBay
