Thread: Worth a shot, I guess.

My first post! Obviously I'm new here! I've been lurking and absorbing everything I can for the past couple of weeks and had a couple of questions.

First, I'm needing a blade sharpened. I have an old (7/8 I believe) Aevos High Class Hollow ground razor that I need to be shave ready. It's in what I believe to be great shape. No nicks or chips, very little oxidation and no rust. Scales are just fine for shaving. Nothing too fancy though.

I was curious if you guys knew of anyone in the Kansas City, Missouri area that does these services for a reasonable fee? If not, who would you suggest to be the most reasonable on this board in regards to quality, price and length of time it would take to finish the blade? I am also curious how often I should expect having the blad professionaly honed/sharpened? I've got a good Illinois Stop and as I get better will invest in some stones for myself as well as maybe learning more about using pasted strops.

I was turned on to this forum by a friend that swears I need to start shaving with a straight razor. I have very thick whiskers and am prone to razor bumps/burn. This is why I (until recently) have always word a beard of some type. I hated shaving with a passion. That being said I have to say that I'm impressed with the forum and the quality of people that I see posting. You all seem like a respectfull and helpfull bunch.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide and hopefully this little experiment will turn me from hating shaving to an enjoyable daily ritual.
