Do you oil your str8 after every shave?

Thanked: 13245Yes, I keep a small can of WD-40 under the counter and spray a piece of TP when I have finished with everything else, and lightly wipe down the blade and pivot area... The razor then sits open in the drawer, until the next day when a new one comes out and that one goes to the back of the rotation..... So far (knocking on wood) I have not had any rust problems at all and my straights are kept in the bathroom.....
I started this routine about 1 year ago after I found the beginnings of rust on my new Dovo's edge....

If you are going to use it again soon you might try a hair dryer after wiping it down. Try to never get the pivot wet. If it gets wet or lather gets anywhere near use a pipe cleaner to remove it during the shave. I use camilia oil for long term storage but any oil application must be preceded by drying with a hair dryer.

I routinely use Camelia Oil on my razors. I use a few seconds with a hair dryer to help ensure moisture in the pivot area is dried up.

No. i dry it on my towel and put it away in the drawer.
If you have a problem with rust down there in the swamps of the south you might have to oil it though.
