    Default Replaceable blades?

I was at the barber shop today getting a haircut when I somehow got on the subject of straight razors with the barber. I told him I've used a straight razor for years and I really like it, etc, etc.

He asked me if I had heard about straight razors with replaceable blades and up until now, I hadn't. Right before I left, he produced a brand new, stil-in-the-packaging, razor with a pack of 5 blades. It doesn't look near as well crafted as my Dovo, but it looks like it could be useful for trips or something.

It's mostly stamped stainless steel. Says it's "glide coated", whatever that means. It's a Personna Classic Hair Shaper, which leads me to believe that it's more for trimming hair on your head than it is for shaving. If it was suitable for scraping my face, I thought I might just put it in my Dopp kit for travel. I'd hate to lose my Dovo and I don't really want to carry a strop around wtih me.

I can't find a model number on the packaging, but this is the same razor from a google search: http://www.amazon.com/Personna-Class.../dp/B0002NUTC4

Anyone have an opinion on this particular razor? Should I give it a try or will it murderize my face off?

    Thanks!

I have a DOVO Shavette that I use mostly when I travel, it uses disposable blades and it's stainless steel. Great shaver. It's priced around $30, here's a pix

Yup just got mine in the mail the other day and quite frankly if I can't find someone to hone my blades as sharp as the shavette's, I just might stick with my shavette, and use my straights whenever I feel like spending more than 10 minutes in the shower.

i've been using a Focus blade razor for quite some time & I must admit that the shaves are superb.
I do still persevere with my straights but the Focus razor delivers the goods if i'm in a rush.Paul
