Thanked: 0Wilkinson straight razors
I bought one of these from a fellow member here a few days ago. I haven't got it yet but am looking forward with anticipation. Considering that Wilkinson was such a big company it's strange that I never see their razors on ebay. Anyone know if they made a lot of straights? I lived near their factory in Acton, West London in the late fifties. Naturally, now I wish I had visited or looked for a job. I worked in the Lucas Electric factory not far away. Of course, none of those factory jobs paid as much as a guy could make in construction so it wasn't long before I joined all the other paddies in the building trades.

Thanked: 2209My suspicion is that Wilkinson did not make many str8 razors but instead focused on the later products similar to the Rolls razor and later competing with Gillette.

They made some. I got lucky and scored a few. Great shaves.

The two in the set are of course but not the older ivory handled piece. Here is a closer photo of the blades. Only one of the two in the set has been used. I may get around to giving the unused one a try or I may leave it pristine. I have noticed that in sets the original owners many times didn't shave with all of the razors. I have a set of two Heljestrand framebacks with one mint razor and the other used.

They are very good. The set came from a fellow that ran it on the bay @ $100.00 and got no bids. He relisted it at $49.00 and I was the only bidder. Turned out that he lives 5 minutes from me so I went and picked them up. The one that had been used was in good shape. It is the first razor I successfully honed and it shaves well. I could do better now and will probably pay some attention to it soon. The ivory handled razor was as you can see suffering from some corrosion. I got it from a forum member who I would call a honemiester. He cleaned it up some and put a silky smooth & sharp edge on it. I shave with it often.
