Thread: Boker Straight Razors

Boker has several straight razors listed in its new catalogue.

Are they actually making them in their factory, or are they outsourcing them and marketing them under their own name?

Who supplies their blanks?

Anybody have any info?

last rumor i remember ... outsourced to whacker.. start to finish... but that was a couple months ago

I dunno about no "Whacker", but Mr. Wacker did at least their Damascus razors - I waw him in a video where he ground them. I don't know about the new razors, though, but with Heribert Wacker being the last freelance razor-maker (all others are employed at or work for Dovo) you can make your guess...

Why buy a new one ?

Just had a 10/10 shave with my old Boker Piccadilly. Total quality.

I bet you can buy ten of these for the price of a new Boker. That is a new ? with Boker stamped on the blade.
That's known as trading on your old reputation, I think. Suprised they don't source them in China and make even more money.

Something like that, yeah. If i wanted a new razor I'd buy a Wacker or a Thiers (or a Dovo which I can lay my hands on before purchasing it to check the quality) for much less money...

If you were to accept the fact Boker was making their razors themselves from start to finish you then have to ask yourself where are the people who make them coming from? If they are a bunch of new guys who taught themselves how to do it all I don't think I would consider one. if someone taught them who would that be considering Wacker is the only one left. Maybe a few old blind guys thery got from an old age home maybe?
