Thread: Did I just press Charge My Credit Card ?

Damn,

I did. New straight shaver after realising that the way of the Straight wasn't gone with the decades. Equipped myself in Victoria, BC while on training (I'm from Quebec City) and after that did the most dangerous thing a man can do to is wallet: looked up the Internet for "Dovo", "Straight Razor"...

Found out right then and there that: I had been robbed blind in Victoria, that there is a community alive and well that shave "differently" and that there are Forums on the subject. Being a passionate person, I started reading quite a bit while I was trying out tips on how to shave myself with a Straight.

Unfortunately, a minuscule ding in my Way Overpriced Dovo left me without razor for a week while an old barber in my hometown digged for his stones to repair the damage. I also figured out at that time that my razor was far from shave ready...

Reading got me to a Palace of All Temptations: ClassicShaving.com, where I bought a whole lot of stuff. Including the thing an aficionado of Steel and swords can't go by without drooling: a Damascus Zowada. Now, understand my dilema: my company offer all employees an annual $500 "Reward Yourself Bonus", no questions asked as long as you have a copy of the invoice and that the goods are not computer related (that's Reward, not Work Some More...)

It didn't take me long to convince myself that, short of a $10K genuine Japanese Katana, that's as close as I'll ever get to that level of craftmanship and that sort of metallurgy. I tought about it for say, 5 minutes, and pressed the fatal button on the web page.

Now my Credit Card is charged and I await the razor. It's a 6/8 Half-Hollow Ground with Lace Wood scales. I even paid a surplus of note for Next Day Delivery ! As long as the thing doesn't get stuck at the border, I'll be shaving with my TZ next week ! Am I happy ? You betcha !

Well, that's my little story. I'll read some more and write about my experience. I'll post pictures but they're gonna be of medium quality since I'm equipped to my eyeballs with Contax and Zeiss glass but for film only... The only digital thing I have is a little Point And Shoot... Wait !
