    Default Mulcuto Werk

I recently acquired two of the Mulcuto "Gold" razors. They were both in about equal condition. Looks like they had been stored somewhere like Lousiana or Mississippi and had little tiny rust marks (and some larger ones) all over them. Other than that, they probably had never been used.

I sold one yesterday on B/S/T as Shave Ready. Since it was the first razor I ever sold, I went and touched it up a bit this morning and stropped it up and tried it.

Wow! wow wow wow wow. That was amazing! I didn't twig on it the first time I worked on it, but this time, it felt so damn nice on the hone. It was the smoothest honing experience I have had yet. When I put it on my barber hone, it literally sucked down onto hone and I almost had to pry it off (ok, not quite, but you get the idea).

Most razors hang up a little and then free up as I move them on the hone, but this one just slid evenly.

Then I stropped it and I think this is the best edge I have ever gotten.

Has anyone else had any experience with these Mulcutos? I was going to sell both of them, but now I am going to hang onto the twin for my own use. These are nice razors!!!

One other question. The little rust marks all over these razors make them look ugly. I am sure they would just about all come out with a diligent application of MAAS, but it will take off the gold wash as well.
Do you think it would be worth it to totally clean up the razor? How about having the gold wash re-applied? I heard from at least one person who had this done to a razor, but I can't remember who or any of the details.

    Any comments appreciated.

I have never seen Mulcouto straight razors. They are more famous for safety razors and honing and stropping devices for safety razors: Razor Sharpeners and Stroppers
