    Default R.H. Whitney & Co??

    Hello all,
This is my first post but here goes.......I inherited a R.H. Whitney & Co 76 perfect 5/8 square point in decent condition (just bought Lynn's video {plug intended}) and am thinking of cleaning it up and using it for daily shaver. Is this brand any good? ( I did first check the newbie corner and didn't see it mentioned).
Thanks for the info, patience and assistance.

    76 R.H. Whitiney & Co.
    PERFECT

on the reverse side: TRADE (then a six pointed star {two triangles one upside down} with PERFECT in the middle) MARK

Coincedentally, on the box it came to me in it says: R.H. Whitney & Co., crystal steel and then Germany and perfect.

    Hope that helps

I did a little looking last night and I was unable to find anything out on the Whitney Co. or their razors. However, if it's a German razor, it's probably pretty fair quality. Maybe even better than that. Some good razor manufacturers made razors for "Joe Blow's Razor Company."
That's about all I can tell you. I really wish there was a central database that a person could research any razor they happened to find...either in the closet, or at a flea market.

    Regards,

    Jeeter

I can second that! I've been "acquiring" razors for 40 years, got a bunch nobody ever heard of, got a couple aren't even marked. Also gotta agree, most of the German ones ARE pretty good. Doesn't take long to figure out which ones aren't. Still got the softest spot for W & B, tho.....................Mike

Thanks to all!!! I need to clean it up a bit and get it professionally honed. Then I will be ready to test it out and see if it has the "metal".
