Hi all,

New member to the site/forum and finally took the plunge into straight razor shaving. I find the materials and artistry of the use of a naked razor absolutely fascinating and finally became too tired of dealing with a poor quality shave from practically every type of cartridge available.

I just purchased this Joseph Roger piece from Ebay and based on the preliminary research that I have done it seems this should be a fine starter blade:
Vintage Joseph Rogers & Sons Straight Razor Sheffield - eBay (item 370076315043 end time Aug-16-08 11:39:28 PDT)

I have a brush and dish (I throw pottery so I just made my own but will surely make a few more once I get a better idea of the kinds of features that might make a truly excellent shaving mug) and am now looking to acquire a strop, some soap/cream, and eventually a hone - although for the time being I will just have my razor honed by someone who actually knows that the hell they are doing!

Excited as a 17 year old on prom night,
Cameron
