    Default Sweeney Todd Razor

    Hey All,

Just finished watching ST and although I wasn't fond of the movie at all, I did LOVE the razors in it. I was wondering if there was a way to obtain a Fully FUNCTIONAL Sweeney Todd razor or even something REALLY Close?

    Thanks

    Well, what's about that item:
Amazon.com: Sweeney Todd Shaving Kit: Toys & Games

They say it's a real straight razor, but that would be pretty cheap
Anyway, don't forget to clean the razor if you find one, you know how Mr. Todd handled the razors

The razors in the Johnny Depp version looked really cool. That said they ruined what could have been a great movie with all of the over the top gratuitous gore. They being the writers of the screenplay. There are two other versions on DVD, one with Angela Lansbury and the other with Patti LuPone. The latter is my favorite but they are both very good. I liked Depp's performance but as I said the gore was just too much. As far as a copy of the razor, you might get in touch with one of the custom makers and see if they would take on the project.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I've seen them occasionally on eBay often described a s Civil War era razors, but rarely are they in hood condition. I'm sure that wouldn't stop some of the genius restorers here from changing that though.

    That's a beaut!

Otherwise, Prof. you could get one of the genius custom makers like Joe Chandler to make one just like it. The movie prob had an extra long blade for dramatic effect, but I think a standard " model would still look good.

There was a version made a couple of years back for UK TV starring Ray Winstone as Todd. Far darker and intense than that Depp silliness! Anyway, the razor that Winstone used was more like a very large folding knife than a modern SR - no trigger (that I remember seeing) very deep blade and dead straight - maybe a 4-inch or so blade. The shaving scenes were convincing and the throat-slitting quite horribly real-looking - especially at the end when he 'topped' himself!

    Step 1, purchase this:
Amazon.com: Sweeney Todd: Razor Prop Replica: Toys & Games

Step 2, find a donor blade of appropriate size/shape persuasion, or alternatively get a custom maker to make a donor blade, I personally think Joe Chandler could put together a blade out of CPM154CM stainless that would look better than the real thing, and be the right shape

Step 3, get skilled member/maker to couple step 1 + step 2 into functional razor

    Step 4, ??

    Step 5, profit

Hi this is the one from GlobalGear.
    Open length of 10.5"
    Closed length of 5.5"
    Stainless Steel
On closer inspection if you could get a good
edge on it, it could give a good shave.
