    Default Different types of points

Can someone describe for me, or point me to an earlier such thread, the different types of SR points.

The round point is a no-brainer. I've read of other types and I've seen pictures of other types but I haven't been able to put a name with a picture so that I'll know what I'm looking at.

    Thanks in advance.

    points
Not shown there are the notch point which would look like the half round with a notch out of it, and the Spanish point which is like the French point except it curves back out to the spine, like a backwards round point.

I am familiar with the following:

    1. Spike (pretty much like a square).

    2. Half round (a spike with rounded corners)

    3. Oblique (a slanted or sloped point, longer at the edge than at the spine, typically half rounded at the corners)

    4. Spanish (concave with rounded corners)

I don't know if I am missing others. I hope this helps.

    Default A Fantastic Resource

One of the best resources on SRP is right here in this forum contained in the sub -forum "Razor Clubs"
Inside of the those clubs you will find every imaginable point out there, and most of them are very proudly labeled.... Honestly most of the pics are pretty darn fun to look through also...

The website that X-man posted is a great source of all types of razor info...

I know there was a thread on here at one time, that I thought Josh Earl had put together, that had pics of all the points on actual razors but it might have been lost in the great crash, because I sure can't find it

And let us not forget the lesser-known points:

Thanks to all. That helps put some of the stuff I've been reading in perspective.

I'll say that you could mainly encounter:

    1) round
    2) French
    3) square
    4) spike
    5) Spanish
    6) notch

or this is what I have seen around...

Some interesting stuff here, including the 'Irish Point' - you have to navigate around a bit. The link concerns the last razor grinder in Sheffield, UK, a Mr. Bill Hukin.

Apologies if it has been posted before.
    Regards,
    Neil

The "Irish" point seen there is the same as the Oblique or French point.
