    Default Hommage Limited Edition Damascene

    Damascene Straight Razor - Hommage

I'm assuming they're saying Damascene to cover their rears because someone might sue for false advertising if they say it's Damascus steel. I understand the price for this baby is a wopping $30,000. Aint worth it in my estimation. I love straight razors, but I personally don't find this one attractive. Plus they don't even know the terminology for straights.

I actually think it's a bad translation because I noticed parts of the filenames in French. Where did you see that it cost $30,000?

I received a email from Baxter of California that shows their top 10 picks of the month, this was one of them. Here's the text from that section of the email.

Hommage is releasing a limited edition Damascene Straight Razor that is handcrafted from Damascene Steel which was a material that was considered to be legendary for its strength and sharpness.

I would expect the price to be high, seeing as it is "Damascene" and the scales are platinum plated...but 30K sound's a bit high to me as well.

That price is outrages. Here's a link to a website that basically says the same thing as the email I received.

That is retarded. Sometimes people have more money than sense. For $30,000.00 you could make the scales out of pure platiunum with diamond studs not pure platinum plated

Wapi scales are made of steel, and they are already considered too heavy.
Platinum is nearly 3 times as heavy, so that would render the razor unusable imo.

But the point of these ridiculous prices is that it allows rich people to show off their wealth in a way that the plebs like us will never be able to.
I read that some brands of jewelry are now shunned by the truly rich because too many 'non-rich' people have started to wear them.

It's the same with the venturi cell phones that cost 17K.
