Score! Tim Zowada Razor Impressions
So to my surprise I find myself the proud new owner of a Tim Zowada Damascus 6/8 razor from Classic Shaving.
My dad called me over the weekend saying I *had* to come over, and that was all he was saying. Well whatever seed I planted must have really taken, cos waiting for me was a Zebra Wood TZ razor. He's obviously been doing some homework, 'cos he just recently found out about my obsession, and now he's buying me quality razors.
I'd be writing this last night if only there was something left to shave after a great BBS from my TI yesterday morning. So patiently I waited for this morning. Felt like a kid at Christmas.
I woke up, jumped into the shower, and started prep. CF Lime, favorite mug, and off I went. Guess what I forgot in my excitement? Yup, forgot to strop. You know, I didn't even realize that until tonight on my way home. Since the razor came presharpened there really was no need. I was able to get a perfect BBS out of the box.
So what's the big deal? Didn't I get the same shave yesterday from my TI? I did in fact. However, I use this analogy; When I feel slow on my bicycle I buy myself new tires, or new handlebar tape, etc. All of a sudden I'm faster. Well it's the same with this razor. All of a sudden I'm getting the best shave yet. Seriously though, there are some notable differences.
The sound of the razor is way different than the carbon, or silver steel I've been shaving with. There's more of a tin sound to it.
I was a bit nervous at first about the amount of pressure to use. The blade felt lighter than my other 6/8's, so I was pretty careful for the first few passes, but then I started having more faith and allowed myself to pass with more pressure.
The pins, the folding, the fitting is all very tight and very solid feeling. It feels quality all around.
I could go on, but I'll end this with a serious A+ rating and a few pictures:

Wow congrats on the new razor and the generous dad.
That's a really nice piece to get as a gift. Your dad did his homework wellTil shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
