Thanked: 0Worried about an Impusle Buy from AoS!!
Hey all,
So far I may say that my history with a real straight is limited to my DOVO Bismark and a $20 Blade i got from a member here, which has a burnt blade that I can't get to shave ready not matter how I try. I have a W&B from eBay coming in but it's a notche Smiley. I've worked on my honing technique thoroughly with the burnt blade for a week and a half but it can't shave properly(for obvious reasons)
I didn't want to hone my bismark without a good deal of experience and I knew that smileys are hard to hone. I needed a third razor, one that I could hone and shave with.
I had some money to burn and took a walk to Colombus Circle where I went into AoS. Took a look at their razors, one was $105. I remember reading a thread on it, so whiped out the iphone and reread the thread. I ended up walking out with a new TI razor. $113 total
The Art of Shaving
I don't want to have a collection of razors, just one or two that I can focus on. Was this a bad choice for someone with my requirements? If I decide to use it, would it sell easily in the classifieds?
Thanks

AOS has not changed their prices in at least a year. Other vendors have been marking up to the new euro rate. Check the various online venors for your razor including the european ones. You will see that AOS is a bargain at these prices for TI's.

I agree with CloseShave, that's a great price for that razor. Plus, with recent comments about QC at TI you can confirm at the time of purchase the quality of the razor.
Let us know how it shaves.

And TIs are a great razor, as long as you took a quick look at the bevel, spine trueness, and pin alignment - the steel is as good as any, so this should be a great razor for you.
Might I suggest sending it out for honing to one of our resident honemeisters, so you at least have a benchmark to know how sharp your razors have to be when you hone them yourself...
Best of luck,
Mark

Thanked: 3795The razor description declared that AoS "offers a complimentary guide on how to use and maintain the razor at home."
What was that? A little pamphlet, a tiny old Italian barber lurking in the back room, or a URL for YouTube?
