Thanked: 39Help on chosing a straight razor
Dear straight shavers,
As I want to start shaving with a straight razor I have checked a checked the range of different razors that are avalable. There is especially two razors that caught my eye but I don't know which of them to choose. So I wondered if you more experienced could help me.
The first one is a 6/8" Thiers razorwith a plastic handle
The English Shaving Company - Edwin Jagger shaving accessories, shaving creams and aftershaves
The second is a 5/8" Dovo Razor with a genuine Ebony handle
The English Shaving Company - Edwin Jagger shaving accessories, shaving creams and aftershaves
As I know both are of very good quality but which one is really "better"? is the size of any differencer? the manufacturer? the plastic vs. the ebony handle? any other tips that can be useful?
I hope you and your experience can help me out here

Thanked: 131Rawaz-
I notice both are sites from the English Shaving Co. Is there any reason for this? Are you based in the UK?
As for which to choose I have only had experience with the Dovo but I hear that both are equally superb shaves. Whatever you do, make sure it is properly honed first. Send it to a local honemeister.

Thanked: 131If its price that is the issue then check out the classifieds on this site. The prices are usually much better and when we say shave ready we usually mean shave ready. There is a nice Boker on there and a Dovo here too....

It looks better and the quality is the same.
I have a dovo, imitation mother of pearl fron straight razor designs.
