Thanked: 0can you help me out?
hey, i recently found an old straight razor that belonged to my grandfather. i dontknow anything about it and would like to know how old it is and if it is worth anything.the handle seems to be made of ivory, and on the blade it says "Cederlof Grunden."between these two words is a picture of a watering jug with a 10 in the middle of it.underneath that is inscribed stokholm Regeringsgat.10. does this mean it was madein sweden? on the part of the blade connecting to the handle(excuse my ignorance,i am not sure what it is called) it has "C.V. helJestrano" and "fskilstuna"inscribed on it. i dont know if you could give me any info in it, but any help wouldbe appreciated. thank you for your time

I had a razor that had "C.V.HELJESTRAND" and under it "ESKILSTUNA SWEDEN" in the same place (I call it the tang where the metal meets the handle). It is said that they are generally good razors
Please show us a photo if you can get one, I am very curious!Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Yes its a made in Sweden razor. Swedish razors are very high quality razors and once properly honed should give great shaves. The other names on the razor are probably the retail establishment who sold it.

Thanked: 0i just found out a little more about it. turns out it was my great grandfathers, not my grandfathers.theyre almost positive it was bought around 1915-1920, give or take a few years.
got some pics of it. sorry for the quality, i only have my camera phone at the moment.
i tried to get some shots of the logo, but it didnt turn out well. if i remember, ill take some pics of the logo with a real camera tomorrow. its a beautiful design, but my camera phone doesnt do it justice.

That's awesome that you have a family heirloom that has so much history. I'd make a point of sending it off to get honed unless you have are sure you can do the job. I'd hate to see that thing get ruined. I love the shape of the blade at the heel, cool metal wok and great scales to boot!!

Nice razor - ivory scales, thumb notch, looks like it's mk no.30 or mk no.31, but you see the reverse of the shank. Looks like the patina may have saved it from rust, so just polish can get it nice and shiny.
Yes, have somebody hone it for you and enjoy it.
