    Default My great grampa's Henckels

    Hey guys,

Looking for some advice. Interested in straight razor shaving, mentioned it to my mom, who told me she has my great grampa's razor. She thought it might be broken, and without seeing it I can't tell if it is, or if it's a type of point I'm not familiar with. She said grampa was poor and shaved with it, anyway.

So, have at it, guys! Is it broken, is it worth anything, should I get it honed and start learning how to shave? If it is broken, can it be fixed?

    Please see pics attached.

Thanks a lot. Glad to have a real first post, proud to be a member!

Tip of it is definately broken. Sorry!

That isn't to say you can't get someone on the restore side to look at it to see if it is worth grinding it out. But might be better left as is and look for a starter razor from the board.

    Just my two cents.

What I'd do is pick up a new Henckels blade in the classifieds or on ebay and get someone on the list to restore it for you using the original scales. That way you get to salvage some of the nostalgia.
