    Thumbs up Thanks Alex.....a.k.a.......Philadelph

Just wanted to say Thanks to Alex.

This Le Grelot blade deserved much finer scales than the mis-aligned, very ordinary "Pink Ivory" scales it originally came with from TI.

Alex generously agreed to rescale the blade with Paua shell from New Zealand.

This is the shell material that PRS Guitars uses for the inlays on their ultra high-end Artist Package and Private Stock guitars and is extremely colorful versus abalone.

The turnaround was lighting fast. I have no idea how such a beautiful set of scales can be made so quickly, but it's Black Magic as far as I'm concerned.

I received the razor yesterday and the scales he crafted are absolutely flawless.

The design is simple yet elegant with perfect symmetry, dead-on alignment and action that is as smooth as buttah.

This will be a razor to enjoy for a very, very long time. Maybe if either of my daughters have sons I'll even have someone to pass it on to.

    Thanks Alex........Beautiful work!

Sorry for the narrow depth-of-field..........shot in very low light

This razor definitely deserves a full product shoot session under studio lights, but it arrived late yesterday while I was at work and I had a huge amount of yardwork to do today so.....yes........just a quick snapshot due to enthusiasm/excitement.

    Better pic's to come ASAP.

    Thanks!

Stu, This is amazingly gorgeous. I am so tempted to do the same thing to my Le Grelot. Alex really did create a work of art here and I'm currently picking my lower jaw up off the floor and cleaning up the drool. I look forward to seeing more pix when you get an opportunity.

    Thanks for sharing this!

I think this blade is simply worthy of better scales than what it came with. IMO, TI should be ashamed to send out a Le Grelot....or any blade for that matter... with scales so poorly aligned. The Pink Ivory is a personal preference thing, but TI's QC was horrific on this razor.

If the original scales had been perfect I would still have been unhappy with the Pink Ivory, but would most likely have just used the razor *as is*.

Frankly, I should have sent it back. I don't expect a custom beauty for $280.00, but I don't think properly aligned scales is too much to ask for at that price point. I sincerely hope that all of the B&B LE razors were not built the way mine was. I imagine if they were we would have heard about it by now.

I ended up having about double in this razor versus what I originally planned due to the re-scale material being so bloody expensive, but holding it in my hand, shaving with it this morning and having a scale set made by Alex makes the expense seem trivial.

She needs a honing touchup.....though this is not The Blade for me to practice that skill set on......and then we'll truly be off to the races.

    Thanks for the comment!
