    Yep, you did good. It's in nice condition and they usually go for more than $53 shipped. Watch out that pitting, I'd keep the razor quarantined for few weeks and watch if it develops rust, if it does, throw away the scales as quickly as you can.

    why would I through the scales away? Couldn't I just take it apart, clean and reassemble?

    the short answer it that if that pitting is caused by celluloid rot the scales will continue to decay causing the blade to rust and will infect other celluloid scales. we don't know, if the scales are infected, but I sure don't like the pit marks on the blade. Just be on the safe side and check.
