    Default How many?

I'm searching ebay like a hawk, trying to find some reasonable treasure. In the last couple of weeks I've become slightly adicted to this bidding and searching.I'm beginning to get really interested in the consept of collecting and restoring razors in addition to shaving with them.I'm still pretty new to this, but my collection so far is an Eicher Solingen(new),Wade and Butcher(antic) an old boker and a mint Filarmonica.I'm just a little boy at christmas eve, when slowly building my humble collection.I've got my eyes on a limited thiers-issard and a maestro live regrind.
My question to the more experienced guyes here is: Did you start up the same way?Buying one of each,of the more well known brands. And on an averige, how many razors have you got in your collection?
This is truly a great hobby!

(Sorry about the crappy english,I'm a Viking)

Yes, you have the classic symtoms of The Disease.

There is no cure, only treatment.

The treatment is simply buying another razor!

    BTW I currently own 8.

I started off with a 5/8 full hollow, and started picking up a lot of inexpensive razors. I started to try vairous sizes and grinds. In order to prevent myself from going crazy, I have set a limit of seven shave ready razors in my rotation. Thus far, I've stuck to that pretty well.

For a while, I was more into the thicker grinds; wedges and quarter hollows. My six razors (I know, I'm one short and working on fixing that) vary in size and grind, and at the moment, my three favorite blades to shave with are two half hollows (Revitt and Bow) and a large full hollow (Friodur). But that's not to say that those are my favorite razors...

I have my Savage, and I love her. They can be hard to find though. Really, anything out of Sheffield should be great. Wostenholm, Rodgers, Greaves and Reynolds are some of the other big names. Have a look through the razor clubs, especially the Marshes (or is it Ponds) one; you should come up with a bunch of names.

I started out with three that my Dad gave me,2 were unusable. I then started picking them up here or there, didn't matter what brand as long as the price was right. Out of17 razors, only 5 are of the same manufacturer, 3 Wade & Butchers, 2 Geo. Wostenholm & Son. One of the Geo Wostenholm's is the one my Dad gave me.

That's the truth, it doesn't just stop with razors. There's strops, hones, soap, mugs, scuttles, brushes and in my case old mirrors.

One addiction feeds another. Which came first the razors or the hones ? I can't remember. I kept buying hones searching for the perfect one to sharpen my growing stable of razors. I kept buying razors to learn how to hone. How many? I am afraid to count but it is around 100 razors and 23 hones.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
