    Default Custom razor options

    Hello everyone,
I'm after some help locating a thread. I'm sure i saw one where a fella was getting a custom made & wondered what everyones perfect custom would be.
I've searched for an age & still no luck in finding it!
I am now in the same situation & would like to see it again for inspiration.
Anyone know if it does exist, or did i just imagine it?
    Thanks all!

I don't know about the old thread, but since I'm positive I didn't post in it, I'll share some of my thoughts. I haven't given it too much consideration, but here are a few points.

I like to have ample clearence around my thumb so that I can use the heal of the blade in the grooves of my neck or to trim aroung my goatee. That can be accomplished with a large width blade, a thumb notch, a slightly elongated tang, and/or a blade that does not taper towards the heal.

I like thick spines and hefty blades. My favorite shavers, with one exception, are either thick grinds or large blades.

I'm not totally sure what my favorite point is, but I do know I don't like round points. If I was to get a custom, it would probably be something like a slightly muted spike point crossed with a Spanish point. Something like the attached image, but a bit more square.

PS: If anyone here won that razor on ebay, I was the second high bidder, and I still want it. PM me if you want to sell her.

We're thinking along the same lines regarding the blade geometry. There is just so much to consider once you really get to thinking about it!
I saw the thread somewhere & i was sure it was here.
    Thanks for the input mate!

To be honest if I was going to spend the money for a true custom I wouldn't be worried about what someone else likes. First I would be using a razor for sometime and have a variety of sizes and grinds and materials so from what I am used to I would know what features and styles I like. Then you can make an intelligent choice and have the ideal custom made just for you. If I was starting out I think having a custom made would be a bad choice. I would just wait a while.

You're advice has been taken on board, thebigspendur. I've been debating this a little while. I know what i currently intend to have. I just want it to be perfect & didn't want to recieve it, then think 'I wish i'd had it done that way!'
I also know that i'm quite new to this. I've really enjoyed the journey so far though & can't see myself losing interest.
Finally, i see razors over here (England, not SRP) & some on that auction site that i like & the prices are silly. It's not really any more to get something very special made than getting a couple of decent blades.
