Default Venus Straight Razors. Are they decent?

I saw an ad for Venus straight razors. The ad says they are coated with titanium and sell for about $55. Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they worth buying?

I've never tried one. I went to their web site and they do a decent sales pitch except for the spotty English. I kind of figure if you don't care enough to have a native speaker proof-read your text, you basically reveal your lack of interest in quality control.

On the plus side, there is a thirty day guarantee and boy doesn't that titanium coating sound cool?

On the downside, their claims are utter bullsh*t. They describe how the blade is forged, ground, and then coated with titanium and yet claim that the titanium coating increases the sharpness of the blade. Consider that honing, which any way you do it, involves removing metal, would remove all of the titanium from the bevel and therefore would have no impact on the sharpness of the blade. Another downside for these razors it that they are made in Pakistan, which has not exactly earned anyone's trust in the razor realm in this century.

I suspect that these are expensive versions of Zeepk razors, so I suggest three things.
    1. You should probably avoid this razor, or take a gamble on their 30 day guarantee.
    2. You'd be better off spending $50 in the Classifieds, or just PMing me and I'll set you up!
    3. Read the sticky about critical info for new members to read before buying and using straight razors.

Thanks. Your reply makes good sense. I'll pass on one of these razors.
