Thanked: 271The news is bad folks ... from what I'm hearing, the supply of NOS Wapienica's is exhausted.

Be of good cheer, Kenrup posted this yesterday. It seems wapis are going back into production, not the stout 1/4 to 1/2 hollow with industrial strength stainless scales we've come to love, but a conventional full hollow roundish point with plastic scales. Kenrup will be selling shave ready wapi IIs for $53 so you will probably be able to get one for 30 bucks or so.
I would have preferred the wapi II to have been a remake of the original, but hey, anybody starting up new straight production should be celebrated!

Thanked: 271I wrote to open_razor (who sells Wapis on eBay) asking if he had any and he didn't answer me. Then another member here who sells Wapis told me that he didn't have any more, that he had written to his contact (the same open_razor) and that he didn't respond. Now, we hear that open_razor is marketing a razor under the Wapi name. You can put 2 and 2 together as well as I can.

Well, it may not have tail fins on it and a huge chrome grill but the new razor is made by the same company and they call it a Wapencia. It's a good razor and it is very different from the original.
I am hearing that there are some stray stashes of the original Wapis popping up but not a steady supply.
