Mag Polish? good to use?
So I’m cleaning / restoring my new (to me) razor with Mother’s Mag & Aluminum Polish, anybody use this before? I was originally looking for MAAS, but didn’t find it available anywhere. It’s working really well, slowly bringing that mirror finish back and taking off all that nasty tarnish & spots, I’ll post some pics later today…

I've had no problem with the Mother's mag and aluminum polish. Makes for a dang shiny bevel, too. It's not a chromium oxide finish, but I've gotten good shaves from it for sure. If I finish a razor with it, I then do about 50 on the canvas/linen and 100 on the leather.
But yeah - it's in my arsenal for knife and razor sharpening. It only takes a very little bit to be effective. Don't load up good leather, just use newspaper on a flat substrate. put a very few little dabs here and there, then smear them around with a paper towel. Wait for everything to get good and dry, and then have at it. It doesn't take many passes at all to achieve maximum effect.
EDIT: Apparently I'm an idiot. I've got my last final tomorrow, and I didn't read the post properly. I've used it as a sharpening paste before, and it worked decently. I've used it for shining up a razor, too, and it worked well. Not the fastest thing on the block, but it worked.Last edited by Ben325e; 12-10-2008 at 03:56 AM.
