    Default Timor Blue Steel

Hi all, I'm contemplating getting a Timor Blue Steel straight razor, anyone have any experience with them? This would be as a starter razor also. Thanks.

This came up awhile back and I don't remember the consensus on this one. I recall that even though the company is German there were questions as to whether the Timor was Solingen made or was imported from elsewhere. Based upon the price I would have doubts about its place of manufacture.

I might be mistaken, but I think most people had a hard time getting a good edge on this razor.

I have honed a number of the Timor razors. I find they respond very well with a two or three strips of tape on the spine. I have had some that were just fine without tape also. It makes a decent entry level razor. The last Blue Steel I honed was just fine.
