Thanked: 3Derby Razor Blades
Are Derby razor blades sharp enough for straight razor shaving?

I would say yes. Derby blades perform quite well in my Merkur HD. Sounds like you are using a shavette?

Thanked: 45I never did meet a DE blade that wasn't sharp enough for a Shavette. Derbys are nice enough to keep for a real DE, though. Snap a Merkur for the Shavette and save the Derbys for those days when you fancy a change.

Couldn't agree more with Dr. Moss here.
The Derby is surely SHARP enough...but that's a nice blade. If you never use your DE at all anymore, sure go ahead, but if you go back and forth, save your Derby blades for that.

Thanked: 9Great Blade!!
I bought some packets of Derby's in Kosovo and they are by far my favorite shavette blade. I used to by using the same stainless steel blades my barber uses and also tried the Bic's and a few others, but I find the Derby's to be way sharper out of the box and keep their edge for 3+ shaves. I absolutely love them!
