Revisor? Dorko? Fake? IDK?
Howdy ya'll. I'm hoping somebody here can help me out.
After getting my X-Mas bonus, I splurged and bought myself a little present. It showed up quickly from Germany, and I got it today.
This is the ebay pic
It looks just like that in person and I was pretty exited. But... when it caught the light just right I could clearly read "DORKO" underneath the "REVISOR C.FRIEDR. SCMIDT".
I tried to get it to show up in a photo and after playing in photoshop a bit you can pretty much see it here
It has "Solingen Germany" stamped into the other side of the tang, and it came in a C.FRIEDR. SCMIDT box.
Any thoughts? Is it actually a Dorko? Is it a fake? Is it made from a Dorko blank? I have absolutely no idea, and it's putting a slight damper on the excitement of getting a new razor on christmas eve.

I don't know the answer to your question for sure but ..... I seem to recall reading that Heribert Wacker had some blades blanks from one manufacturer and ground off the name and stamped another onto them. This may be a similar situation ? You can see some of his work here. Looks like a really nice razor.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I don't think its a fake. Dorko probably had a bunch of blades when they stopped selling straights and revisor probably bought them however I've never seen a revisor like that so who knows.

Thanks guys.
I've been really exited about getting this one. It's my 1st stainless, 1st 6/8 round, 1st fancy scales, and it's the most that I've spent on a razor. I'll probably be honing it up tomorrow for an X-Mas test shave unless somebody else chines in with some bad info.

I'd be happy wit that razor even if it were a Dorko. I have a couple of Dorko's and they shave really nice. Nice Razor, enjoy your shaves with it.

Either way its a nice razor, all youve lost is esthetics! But if that bothers you, send it back.

The last Dorko on eBay sold for $335.00. I would be pretty pleased with it.

I have two NOS Dorko’s and they are very good shaving razors, got a NOS Revisor as well. They are all in the same class for shaving ability. That blade print is very unique. Just be careful when cleaning it. Do not get any cleaning compound (like MAAS) on it or you will polish it right off. If you tape the spine when you hone try not to get tape on the print/gold wash. It will lift some of it off giving you a dull line across the top.
