    Default musical razors

Anyone reading this thread probably has a harem of blades. Different blade sizes, styles, weights etc... I like to keep a nice mix of styles in there. however I sometimes get focused a peticular blade (recent addition). When i get back to the others I find the shave not like it used to be. Therefore I've come to the conclusion each blade design has it's own performance tendencies that must be remembered in order to provide a quality shave. Do any of you like to mix it up like me or do you keep the blades in your rotation similar? If you mix it up do you have any trouble remembering said tendencies?

I have a pretty good mixture of blades, and I have found that sometimes I get back to one and it doesn't quite shave like I remembered. Sometimes, this is simply an indication that since I last used that particular blade my honing has improved. Sometimes it is because of my shaving technique; for example if I go from a bunch of wedges back to a full hollow I am more likely to get some irritation.

On the other hand, sometimes I pick up a blade that I haven't used in a while and I am blown away by how great the shave is.

Having a little over 100 straights and continuing to add more to the accumulation there is usually a considerable length of time between shaving with the same razor. I bought all of these not only because I love razors and have for real acquisition disorder but also to really learn how to hone.

It could be argued that you don't need to get a hundred plus razors to learn to hone but if you do learn and then the razor lasts for months before it needs honing I figured that if I don't use it I will lose it. So I have a hell of a lot of razors.

As they are honed I shave with them until they are right. I still have quite a few in the queue to hone up and may eventually get to where I have a small rotation of favorites. Not in the foreseeable future though. I have no problem shaving with one style or the other so far.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
