Anyone else seen this brand? Heard of it? Looks like a nice blade to me but... what do I know?

I've owned a few Regal brand barber hones; I have no idea if they were related only in name to the razor. The Regal barber hones were coarse and IMO of poor quality. Crap.

Spike points are not uncommon. People suggest that newbies try round point first but I do not think that it is going to be that much harder. I normally do not like buying on Ebay but this one looks great, did you get it Rolando? If so, get it shave ready and use it. If you like it, that is all that matters. Unfortunately, I do not know about the quality of the razor.

Yes, I got it. Not in my hands yet but I won the auction. Hopefully its not as crappy as the hone mentioned above. I figure if its German and anything like the picture it should be ok. I'm gonna sent it off to be honed. I'm guessing it isn't sharp. I don't even have a strop yet but I got some shave soap and a brush today. I'm gonna check out some strops from the strop guy in New England.

The brass inlay in the handle looked cool and the metal was shiny with no obvious dings in the blade edge. We'll see. Hope it comes in the mail tomorrow.

I got another one that may be a bit rougher. Backup razor. I'll send it out and then it'll be my practice honer when the time comes.

For $13 I figure I won't be sad if I screw it up as a practice piece.

Hi Rolando, congrats again, and if that is your razor on the green carpet, it looks spectacular! In terms of quality, everything is somewhat relative, what may work great in my face may not work as well in yours. If you are thinking of Tony Miller as the New England strop guy, I think that he lives in MD.

    Default Razor is here!

Yes, that is my razor in the photo. I went to the city for a haircut today. My barber is a Cambodian guy who gives the old school treatment with hot towels and a straight razor shave on the neck and around the ears. I watched his technique and as a new straight shave I paid close attention to the sound of the hairs cutting and the angle of the blade, his razor, strop technique etc..

When I got home the razor was in my mailbox fresh from the Ebay auction. I cut open the box and was stunned at the first look. A++. Scales are immaculate and the blade is clean as a whistle. I looked at the edge in the glint of the light and it is PERFECT. I ran it across my hand and found that it is SUPER SHARP!!!! I am thrilled that I will be able to make my first shave attempt tomorrow morning. No strop yet but I'm tellin ya this baby is ready to go!!! I'm very excited.

One question I have is about the scales. They look to have "grain". I'm wondering what material they are made of. They don't really look like horn or plastic. I thought maybe ivory but that seemed so .... luxurious. I know the photos don't look so great but I'll post some that I take myself and maybe you guys can help me determine the material. Any ideas?

I don't really know what ivory looks like and the scales are more of a yellowish white. What do you think?

    I think it is celluloid.
