Thanked: 9Cattaraugus green lizard?
I would like to put together a seven day set with these. A few of the subject experts have said that there are a few different variations of these, which ones have you seen? Do you have any green lizard gear? Razor? Hone? Post up pics!

If memory serves I paid $30.00 USD for this on ebay a year or so ago. One of my first honing efforts and a fine shaver. Stamped with the # 131 on the pile side of the tang. I have seen Green Lizards with the etching on the blade and with the etching on the scales. There may have been some with the etching on both, not sure. Good luck with your quest.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 953I got a green lizard off ebay for about $28 in November or December. The guy listing for 129 is nuts and I shot him a polite email to that effect. I think I see one or two on ebay a month. if you don't want to miss any try different searches. I the one I found spelled cattaraugus wrong and didn't say green lizard, so I stumbled on it.
I'm finding it hard to hone but that's probably me, or maybe a problem with the blade. I'm not sure. It's a cool razor, and very hard stelel, but it's not that cool, so if you haven't tried enough blades I wouldn't try to collect a set because you might wish you'd gone for seven solingens instead (or whatever you like). And i you have sampled the field, please ignore the last sentence.
There are different designs. Some have a clear outline of a lizard body and the words "green lizard" inside the body, and I've seen those translucent and opague. Mine is translucent and there is no clear outline of a lizard but it's kind of engraved. Not sure how to articulate, but it's not as obvious in a picture that there is a lizard there.

I have a 13/16 one with a thick, heavy tang. Similar to Jimmy's, I think. A hone as well.
Great shavers! (WOW! this thread is OLD!)Last edited by sharptonn; 09-04-2013 at 12:52 AM.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Here are my two Lizards.
I'd own 100 if I could get my hands on them!
