I'm bidding on one of the Ducks and W&B. We should communicate with each other. I got raped on a W&B last time. I'm bidding on the Dwarf. I have enough Wonderedge, Goldedge and the like. These will be my last Ebay purchases for qute some time. I'm pretty content with what I have. Actually, These will be my last Ebay purchases....Rich

Thanks for helping us get our duck in a row on this one, craig.
Except, I'm sorry to put a new perspective on those seven years....
duck definition | Dictionary.com
OR
AskOxford: duck1
check the plural form. Both the Webster's dictionary and the Oxford show that the plural can be "duck" or "ducks".
Here are two sentences, both using a different plural form of "duck."
"I have five ducks and they are all good swimmers."
"The population of duck and geese in North Carolina has dwindled for five consecutive years."
It depends on if you are commenting on specific ducks or not.

PLEASE, everyone - do yourselves a favor and defocus from the DublDuck razors. They are good razors no doubt; however, ANYTHING coming out of Solingen will be of equal quality. The city of Solingen itself and the Solingen Blade Guild each have similar standards for the steel that MUST be met in order for the razor to say Made in Solingen. I know that there has been a big focus on Wonderedge razors because they are "Wonderedges". I used to think that the difference between a Wonderedge and a Goldedge, Satinedge or No. 1 Special was that the Wonderedge was cryo hardened carbon steel. Not so.
I made contact with the grandson of Peralman - the owner of the Pearlduck brand name after his partner (the Bres part of the Bresduck name whatever it was), retired in 1952, (Pearlduck closed it's doors in 1957 and the name now belongs to a dog grooming implement maker). He asked his grandfather then in his mid 90s, what the difference was in the steel used in Bresduck/Pearlduck razors and the answer was - nothing! The only difference in any of the Pearlduck or before that the Bresduck brand razors was trim and aesthetics. Some are prettier than others - that's it. So, save your money and buy any well kept razor with a nice straight edge and given the proper honing you should shave just as well as with a Wonderedge or any Bresduck/Pearlduck for that matter.

John, IIRC this all came from an e-bay seller making some pretty wild claims, I believe you should state that in your posts, I could go all the way back to the original threads and and find all this info again....
No disrespect meant but what yer saying needs proof, something more than an un-substantiated e-bay seller saying these things....

Thanked: 27Can't we just sacrifice a Goldedge and a Wonderedge for testing and know the difference for good? We can find the rockwell hardness, carbon content, alloys used, etc. This will settle the Goldedge vs. Wonderedge debate for good.

+1 on this:
My WE is the best shaver I have ever owned. That isn't a wide sample of either DD's or other razors mind you, but out of my seven day stable, it takes a better edge than any other blade I own (a few bigger wedges, a wapi, some random solingen blades, a TI, and a Wacker ground 7/8 square point).
I would trust the view of one who has honed multiple ducks in every model over hearsay.
JMHO.

You are absolutely right! Long after he sold his razors on eBay I contacted him and he made up this story. I was such a fool. Your right! A Wonderedge is worth $1000 maybe more because it is made of metal crossed from the 11" turret of the Shornhorst and a crashed alien spacecraft from area 51. Never mind me. Hell, I make this stuff up on a daily basis just to entertain my pet birds. This is exactly why I stopped trying to help people on the forums. Sooner or later - in this case sooner - someone is going to pop up and tell you that you are full of crap.

John,
I understand your frustration and have had a mild case of it directed to me at one time. I hope this doesn't stop you from assisting us along our journey with straight razors. I am always interested in reading what others have to offer and make my own decisions on what to believe and what to ignore as most of us here can do. Some of us just have a bad day for what ever reason and come across wrong. I do remember the thread Glen was referring to and probably would have addressed the topic in a different manor, probably due to my many years of training in being politically correct in a big corporation. Sometime I think it is a curse, other times I can tell people to go to hell in a way that they think they will enjoy the trip.
Hope you stick around.“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)
