Date this Rodgers. 6 Norfolk Street, maltese & cross, cutlers to their majesties, etc
This seems to me to have been made anytime from the 1840s to the early 1870s. What do you guys think? Is there a way to narrow it down?

Joseph Rodgers&Sons company existed 1837-1901.
The phrase "Cutlers to Their Majesties" was used prior to 1877.Alex Ts.

Here is a link to an old post which has a link to a history of Rodgers that carries them to 1910. I am pretty sure they made cutlery into the pre-WWII era if not beyond that into the 1950s. I have a Joseph Rodgers pipe knife sitting here in front of me that I use daily and it is definitely made in the modern era. It is marked Rodgers and has the star & cross.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I guess that's how you get skilled workers. The paper also mentioned that it was not uncommon that 3 or 4 generations of the same family worked at the same time. Imagine heading off to work each morning with your dad, your grandpa, and your greatgrandfather!

Actually from the research I have done, it appears the dates you listed above coincide directly with Queen Victoria's reign. Maybe that was the period that their royal warrant issued by her was valid, and they would have been stamping V.R. on some of their razors during that time period. Joseph Rodgers & Sons was certainly around before that time and for some years after as well
